To my friends, team mates, and those other guys on the opposite side of the field,
(all one and the same most days).
With a heavy hart I have to let you know that I’ll be closing Field 51 this year before we even open.
This is a decision that I have been toiling over for some time. I have other things I want (need) to accomplish with my life. And to be able to accomplish these I have to get a start on them now before I’m much older.
So for me I’ll be selling the property in Gorham and buying a small cabin on the side of a mountain. Going off grid with solar and wind, add a few chickens and goats and that’s my new life.
And in my free time learning to fly fish all over again and a little more hunting time… I guess I’ll catch the fall colors this year! (Always seem to head up north too late for that most years).
So if you know anyone worthy enough to run a field, send them my way, the right person with the right field and I’ll be very easy to work with.
I have some feelers out in the new area outside Farmington, to see if there is anyone looking to start up a field, as this would be nice to help out on and give me a place to play nearby once in a while.
It’s been fun, and also tiring….. I wouldn’t trade the past few years.
For now I’ll leave you with a new quote I found……….
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
