I have two tanks that are way out of hydro, and probably wouldn't pass any recertification...

One's a 12 oz. Pure Energy CO2 tank

and the other's a 48/3000 steel pure energy tanks

how would you guys recommend disposing of them?

or if anybody wants them for some twisted reason(as long as you don't try to fill them without getting them hydro'd first) I'm happy to give them to you when the season starts back up cheers

if I can get any help, I'd greatly appreciate it

You can get them re-hydro'ed at just about any scooba equipment shop, from what i hear it costs about $20.

BUT, if you're just gonna' get rid of them...I'll put them to good use Very Happy

The CO2 tank will not be worth the money to have re-hydroed, but the maine dive shop off Marginalway in Portland is the place to bring the HPA tank.
Is there any reason that makes you think the HPA tank would not pass?
As far giving the tanks away - and you do not (or can't) re-hydro, I'll take them for the ref training class.

Good luck!

I figure that it's just not worth it.. the last day we played last season, we bought two HPA tanks, and won a third (between me and my dad, we don't need 4 tanks :p) I think I'll bring them by for ref training next time we're out for a game.

(the HPA tank also has a small crack on the reg, probably wouldn't effect it, but who knows?)

Whats wrong with owning four tanks... I currently have six, 2 are for sale, and I'm only one person...

The regulator has no relevancy in the Hydro test. The dive shop in Portland, http://www.mainediversscubacenter.com , requires that you remove the regulator before they test your tank and I think the last tank I had done there was $25.
